Covid Policy

We’ve taken proactive steps to implement health & safety requirements to help support a safe and comfortable experience. Please check this page often for the most up-to-date information. Please be advised these policies are subject to change based on the evolving nature of the pandemic.

Our policies are based on current CDC Guidelines and align with the requirements of Lakeland Community College and state and local health authorities regarding large indoor events. Currently, verification of vaccination or proof of negative test are not required for admission to the Lakeland Community College or Nyancon. We will continue to monitor the requirements and guidance from state and local health departments.

Health and Safety Acknowledgement

Be advised that a risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any event or public space, including Nyancon. If you choose to attend Nyancon, you acknowledge this inherent risk on behalf of yourself and/or any Minor for which you serve as Guardian, and, as a condition of entering Nyancon.

Additionally, each attendee must acknowledge and attest to the following before entering Nyancon:

  • That you are not experiencing any of the following symptoms as identified by the CDC:

    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  • If you have been in contact with someone who is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 symptoms without completing a quarantine as recommended by the CDC.

Do not enter Nyancon or any of the event’s venues if you cannot confirm all of the above criteria. If at any point during your time at the event you do not meet all of the above criteria, you will be asked to leave the venue at the sole discretion of Nyancon management.

Face Coverings Required in all areas.

In accordance with public health guidance, Nyancon 2022 will be requiring that participants wear a face covering while attending Nyancon. Face coverings are able to be removed outdoors or in other specifically marked areas. Masks must fully cover your nose & mouth, must securely fit under your chin, and be visable at all times. We encourage our participants to follow CDC Guidelines regarding face coverings and maintain up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations if possible.

There are a few things NOT permitted:

  • Masks with valves, cuts, holes, etc.
  • Bandanas, gaiters, or other wraps that do not fit securely under your chin.
  • Face shields.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I required to wear a face covering at Nyancon? Yes. Please note that if you are found without a face covering, you will be warned, or provided a mask if available. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in removal from Nyancon 2022 with no refund to admission costs.

Can I wear my cosplay helmet, fur-head, etc? Yes, Cosplay helmets, fur-heads, etc are permitted. They will still need to fully cover the nose, mouth and chin. If not, we ask that a mask is worn underneath to compensate.

Can I take off my mask to eat/drink? Yes, of course. Please make sure to replace your face-covering as quickly as possible afterwards.

Can I get a refund or roll my membership over to next year if I cannot attend due to illness or COVID-19? Unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds or roll over your membership for another year.
